Back in the game. Personal training for the over-40s.

You've been meaning to get fit for a while. I'm Mark, I'm 53, I train on Shoreham beach most mornings, and I'm qualifying as a personal trainer to help people my age do the same. Outdoors, at your home or in the gym.

The approach

Training for the body you've got now

Bodies over 40 recover differently and respond differently. Add an old injury or two, a desk job, the menopause, less time and more stress, and a programme written for a 22-year-old stops making sense. Yours is written for the body you've got now.

Where

Train where it suits you

Shoreham beach, the park, your living room or the gym floor. I come to you, and we train wherever you're comfortable. If you've already got a gym membership, we can use it.

Why me

I do this every morning too

Morning runs, sea swims, tabatas, and the odd bike ride up the Downs before breakfast. Everything I ask you to do, I'm doing too, and I know it gets harder after 40 because I'm there myself.

What you get

Training that fits around your life.

A plan written for you

Every session planned around your goals, your body and your week.

Food advice you can live with

Practical eating advice that fits around your actual life and still leaves room for the things you enjoy.

Someone in your corner

Check-ins between sessions, and a plan that changes when your week does. Miss a session and we pick it up next time.

Progress you can feel

We track what matters to you: strength, energy, how your clothes fit, and the scales only if you want to.

How it works

Three steps. I'm taking names now, and I'll start training clients once I'm qualified.

Step 1

Send me a message

Tell me where you are, what you'd like to work on and what's been getting in the way. I'll reply myself.

Step 2

Free consultation

We meet, or talk on the phone. You fill in a short health questionnaire, then I ask about your goals and what has or hasn't worked before. It's a conversation, not a sales pitch.

Step 3

Start training

Your programme starts. We train at your pace, review as we go, and change things when life gets in the way.

Common questions

Not yet, and I'd rather say so up front. I'm working through my Level 2 Gym Instructing qualification now, with Level 3 Personal Training straight after. I'll start training clients once I'm qualified and insured. Register your interest and you'll be the first to hear.

That's exactly who it's for. Most people I want to work with haven't trained regularly in a long time. We start from where you are today and build up at your pace.

It's optional. We can train outdoors, at your home, or at a gym if you prefer, and I bring the kit. If you already have a membership we can use it. I train at 360 Fitness in Shoreham and know the equipment well.

Most people over 40 do. Tell me about it at the start and I'll plan the sessions around it. If something needs a physio or your GP to look at it first, I'll tell you, because that's the right call.

I'll set my prices before I take on my first client, and they'll go on this site. If you register your interest, I'll tell you as soon as they're fixed.

Put your name down

I'm taking names now for when I start training clients. Tell me a bit about yourself and what you'd like to work on, and you'll be first to hear when I'm ready.
